Alison originally lived in Plymouth then Dorchester, going to London at 18 to train as a nurse. She is now an Advanced Nurse Practitioner with 40 years experience in nursing. Alison spent most of her nursing career in South London and worked for 20 years within GP practice’s in Lambeth Southwark and Lewisham. Alison lost both parents when she was 38. Living in London with a sick father in Dorchester started making her think how good it would be if there was someone she could call upon to check on her parents. Instead she travelled up and down the motorway every week until their passing.

Alison has 3 grown up children and 2 grandchildren. She also has elderly relatives, with needs, living locally in Bournemouth so is very aware of how a situation can change in a second.

Alison moved back to Dorset 4 years ago, and started working in a local GP practice.  Her last role was as a frailty lead for Bournemouth East Network where she noted again there was a gap for the children of the elderly relatives. She wanted to set up a sitting service for the frail elderly to give wives/husbands/ daughters/sons a break.

Alison is excited to be devoting time to making Local Angels a reality.
