After forty years of working in adult social care in London Mike decided to retire to his native Dorset, to be closer to his family and for a more relaxed pace of life. Prior to his retirement Mike worked as a senior manager in a large charity supporting adults with mental health. He has twelve years’ experience as manager including as a CQC Registered Manager. Mike is honest, reliable, and trustworthy with excellent communication skills with a commitment to a collaborative style of working.

 Mike is passionate about ensuring people receive the right level of care that meet their needs in a compassionate and dignified way.  He strives to ensure people have the highest quality of support to enable people be as independent as possible and live their best life.  Mike has always seen the person as an individual and not just a number or another “client”. He has always gone above and beyond to make the people he supports feel valued and respected. He works alongside individuals and their families to ensure a holistic approach. His friendly and sociable approach has been appreciated by families as he interacts with the people he supports in a kind and friendly manner at a pace that suits the person he is supporting.

 Mike has a lot to give as his testimonies clearly evidence. His years in social care has given him a broad skills set, which includes

• Excellent planning and organisational skills.
• An understanding of health and social care so he can navigate his way around heath care services.

 Mike has a keen interest in social history with a love of steam trains and black and white movies. He loves hearing and telling stories, which has gone down very well with people he has supported previously as he has enjoyed seeing people reminisce about old days from their pasts. Mike is very knowledgeable about local history and is genuinely interested and eager to hear and share stories of old; life growing up, and life in the war or the story of the Royal Family. He has a love of local history and exploring of local walks, Mike is a big music fan with a wide and varied taste in music, which he has enjoyed sharing with people he has supported and has even been known to have the odd dance or two. He has recently discovered the joys of audio books.
